Last night was pure poetry in motion. With the help of Mike, Chris, Dennis and my brother Michael, we stocked the kitchen and cranked out ten batches of cookie dough like we had been doing it all our lives. Dennis patiently broke up 4 1/2 pounds of toasted pecans and never complained a moment. Michael patiently unwrapped two bags of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and quartered them. I bossed everyone around like I was the expert and they didn't seem to mind. We were on a mission...Mission Heartsong Cookies.
Tonight we have to get all the cookies baked, bagged and dressed in Heartsong finery. But for now I am off to experience my annual rite of passage into fall...the first Gator game of the season. Yes, I am crazy, but those who know me already knew that.
