Stuffed! - Day 248

Tonight's culinary adventure took me to the home of my favorite second family...the home of David, Sheri, Noah and Sarah.  It had been a while since I enjoyed a Wednesday night family meal around that famous Lazy Susan table and I was filled with anticipation all day.  Dinner did not disappoint.  We headed for the garden and picked fresh lettuce, snow peas, carrots, beans and an heirloom black tomato.  Then it was back to the kitchen to whip up another one of David's dinner masterpieces.  Sarah and I snapped the beans.  I cut the carrots, tomato and shelled the peas.  Sheri tore the lettuce.  David made stuffed shells.  Noah practiced his skateboard moves in the driveway.  When dinner was ready we all gathered around the bountiful Lazy Susan.  This is my happy place.  No TV, just good conversation and tasty food.

Family dinner tradition calls for me to bring the dessert to the meal.  This time I solicited the help of my favorite chef, Ryan.  I asked him to make a banana walnut bread just like the one he had made last week.  Then I picked up bananas, butter, black walnut ice cream and whipped cream.  Dessert was a take off of one I recently enjoyed at Bahama Breeze.  Sarah and I melted butter in a saute pan, added some brown sugar until it dissolved into a dark caramel color.  Then we added sliced bananas to go for a swim in the buttery goodness.  Ryan's yummy banana bread was sliced, topped with a scoop of ice cream, ladled with buttery bananas and a squirt of whipped cream.  The end result was over the top sweet, but very good.  All Lazy Susan table members left the table with clean plates and stuffed tummies.  I loved this night!

Many hugs,
Kathy
